Do Not Go Gentle Into That Goodnight

Happy 4/20 everyone. And now, its time.

Uno-The Dolphins announced the schedule for next year. Here are some of the highlights. The season kicks off in Miami for Monday night football on 9/12 along with another Monday night battle with the Jets on 10/17. Perhaps we can finally defeat Houston on 9/18 which is a 3:15 game. However, I am for once in my life looking forward to Thanksgiving as we get the Cowboys. Now if the owners can get rid of this stupid lockout, we may be onto something.

Due-The White Sox have won 0 games in the last 7. They need a win soon, but there are other things they need. They need Juan Pierre to be the lead off force he was last year when he lead the league in stolen bases. He is 4 out of 9 so far this year, and that is not such a good thing. Adam Dunn has a history of striking out, but also a history of lots of home runs. He needs the latter to start happening. When he played his first game with the Sox, he hit one out of the park. That set the tone for many great things. Carlos Quentin has been kicking ass and that needs to continue. These things need to happen so we can revisit the bullpen situation. Oh yeah, Jake Peavy needs multiple doctors. I can’t believe we wasted so much money on this guy.

Tre-I don’t like the Cubs, but I have to give credit where credit is due. Starling Castro is playing some kick ass ball, and the fact this kid is a rookie batting leadoff, have to respect that.

Quattro-The Twins are in a bad bad place. Nathan gives up the closer role, Mauer is still out, and the new Japanese Import is gone as well. However, never, and I mean never count this team out.

Cinque-Focusing on baseball some more, it’s not too shocking to see the Royals doing what they’re doing, but I didn’t expect the hot spot from the Indians. However, we will have to see what these two teams do in the division. The Tigers seem to be picking up steam and it will only be a matter of time before the Sox do the same. Remember Sox fans, April has always been a crappy month. The Sox will get over it eventually.

Sei-Jake Peavy hurts his shoulder and who knows if this guy will ever make it. I used to think that Swisher and Teahen were Kenny’s worst moves. (David Wells not so hot either.) But this one could be the worst gamble so far on his resume.

Sette-And how about them Hawks. I thought last night was going to be the funeral, but it turns out to be fun. Watching Dave Bolland out there was wonderful, and seeing Luongo give up 6 was great. The twins were stopped dead in their tracks and the Hawks led the hitting brigade as well. All in all, great game, and this is what we wanted to see from them since games 1-3. Now the big question. Can they carry this excitement into game 5 with them up north? I really don’t think so. Vancover is too good of a team to let this series slip away. But Go Hawks!!!!

Pinsiero finale: And let the Hawks game be a lesson to you. You can never quit no matter what. The Hawks most likely will get beat tomorrow night north of the border, but they will not go down without a fight. The moment you think you’re beat, you’re beat. Don’t let the evil Canadians or whoever you’re adversary know you are down. You will be down for a dirt nap.

PS Check out this story about how Hawk fans were yelling at the Canucks GM. Although that is funny, the comments about how the girl and the 5 year old were taunted and had beer dumped on them were not as funny. Fans, please remember that we are all people with feelings. God I feel bad for that kid. Especially because he is a Canucks fan, thats bad to begin with. But he shouldn't have a beer dumped over his head, or be victimized by the language he had to endure that night. Its great the Hawks were kicking ass, but leave the ass kicking to them. No reason to tortue Canucklehead fans. And besides, I'm sorry but they will have the last laugh as I think no way the Hawks rebound in this series.
