Dolphins Kick Ass: S#!t People Say

Well Dolfans, I haven’t written here in a while. So I thought I would. I want to let everyone know who is a fan of the Phins in Chicago, I am trying to get a meetup/party or something like that for Monday Night Football. Yes it will happen, yes there will be a season, and yes I am going to do this. It may be my house or a local joint somewhere near. I am in the Algonquin/LITH/Huntley area, so if you are interested, let me know and we’ll hook it up.

Now, I am quite anxious for the season to start because we need to get some free agents on the team, and yes of course, find the person who will challenge Henne for the QB job. I am behind Henne 100%, but I want to see him at his best and a QB competition may do that for him.

Anyway here are seven of the most ridiculous things I have heard in the last six months regarding football and the Dolphins.

1-Stephen Ross flies out to California to interview Jim Harbaugh only to keep Tony Sparano-Look goofy, we love your orange carpets and you addiction to finding more and more celebrity minor owners for the Dolphins. It’s so cute. However, this was by far one of the biggest embarrassments for the Dolphins since 2007. I am with many people and getting behind Tony because what he went through, no one should have to go through. I also hope it motivates him to win big, but there is the effect of apathy it might have as well.

2-Let’s get Kevin Kolb. How many draft picks will this guy cost along with a house, car, boat, and plane? How much do we really know about him? If Vick didn’t emerge as he did, would the youngster step up to the plate? Quite frankly I think the talk of Matt Flynn is pretty crazy as well, but at least he had a great game against one of the elite teams in football, but what has Kevin Kolb done that has earned him all this praise. Why do we find random players in football and decide they will be the cream of the crop or the next great player to fill the huge shoes of a superstar who was on the team before?

3-Ryan Mallett and the “payback” the Dolphins are going to get. Did his Dad read the book “He’s Just Not That into You?” He should. The Dolphins saw someone who they wanted more. I don’t know if they have that much faith in Henne to fill the needs at running back and wide receiver/kick returner, but they did. Get over it. You’re on the Patriots which means you will most likely become a superstar, and Dolphin fans everywhere will point to Wes Welker, Sammy Morris, and anyone else they can think of who went to the Patriots and became great after they left South Florida.

4-Let’s give shout outs to coaches who lost jobs thanks to us-Tyrelle Pryor most likely drove one of the many vehicles he had thanks to his “hook up” for that press conference with Drew Rosenhaus. He gives Jim Tressel a “shout out” and half ass apology for causing him trouble. If you want to apologize and you feel you had something to do with his problems, then be a man and a professional about it. Don’t sound like some asswipe who’s calling into Eddie and Jobo trying to get all your buddies to hear you on the radio.

5-Can someone tell Rex Ryan he’s not Nostradamus but possibly Harold Camping-Year after year we have to hear this guy with his predictions for his wonderful Jets. And earlier this year, here he goes again:

"Last year I thought we'd win it. This year, I know we'll win it,"

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Go eat a sandwich and shut up already. Yes, you have proven you’re not a fluke coach, but you’re still an asshole. Sorry. And you’ll be wrong again. Oh, and the Dolphins will beat your team again too.

6-Let’s cut Brandon Marshall due to his wife stabbing him-First off all, you don’t just cut one of the top 5 receivers on the team because his wife stabbed him. You wish him well and hopefully he gets better. Will he cooperate with the police? Eventually. May he get suspended, perhaps. However, you didn’t see the Steelers cut Ben Rothlisberger. They tried to stay afloat without him, succeeded, and then he came back, and they went to the Superbowl. Character concerns are valid, but what a guy does on the field is what counts, and furthermore, can you really label Marshall a character concern when he was attacked? It may have been in self defense, but after the story of his wife coming back to the house two weeks ago, I am starting to believe not.

7-The lockout will be over next week-I can’t believe how many people want to make false reports so they can be the one who broke the news of the lockout being over with. Look, I thought when it came to the news, it’s more important to be accurate than first. If you’re the first person who botched the story, you’ll be known as being not credible which is a tag you don’t want as a journalist. I, like everyone, am tired of the lockout and want to hear the words “lockout over” as much as anyone. However, what I don’t want is a bunch of tools giving me wrong information, getting me excited over nothing. Let’s just end the speculation and report the lockout ends when it actually happens. This isn’t like free agency. That kind of speculation is fun. This is just crap.

Final thought: I can’t wait for the season to start and see who the Dolphins pick up to compete with Henne. It is going to be too late for a veteran QB to learn the system, but Pennington was signed pretty late into the offseason, and he helped win a division championship. Anything is possible. GO DOLPHINS!!!
