I wanted to write this after the TB series before we go into Hoe town to do some trash talking on the Tigers. I wanted to wait until after the last home stand before I ripped on the Orioles and the Rays. But never in a million years did I think I would be writing about Mark Buehrle pitching a perfect game against an offense as potent as the Rays.
Mark Buehrle is one of the guys on the team that you can't beat up on no matter what. I remember in 2006 when he fell apart in the second half. You still had to root for him. He was getting shelled game after game. However, he was still that guy. They guy who made you smile when he was interviewed. Always honest and down to Earth. Mark has touched many of our hearts here in the South Side Kingdom. And one year later, he pitches a no hitter against a dangerous Texas Rangers lineup. We all called for Kenny to extend his deal, and he responded. Every year, you could count on Mark to goof around like he was a kid. Whether it was expressing his love for the Cardinals, or sliding on the tarp, you knew that he was the real deal as a person, but as a competitor, holy shit can the man work?
Whenever you go see a Sox game, and number 56 is on the mound, if he is on, you're going home in 2 hours. Nobody works faster than Buehrle. He is a leader in the clubhouse and has done a nice job in mentoring all the youngsters like Danks, Floyd, and Richard who have come in. He even wrote Danks name on the mound before yesterday’s historic outing. The man is a class act through and through. He has been with the organization for 9 years and grew up here, and I hope we get to see him here longer. I will always appreciate the effort Mark brings, and when I listened to the replay of the game on the score yesterday, I have to admit it. I got a little choked up listening to the final out and hearing his wife and daughter ran out to the field. I am very proud of Mark Buehrle, and I very proud to be a White Sox fan for the majority of my life. Always and forever.
Now let me get to a couple of random things and totally screw up the nice piece I wrote about Mr. Perfect!!!
While we are on the subject of yesterday, mad props to Dwayne Wise for that catch yesterday. I think that was the biggest catch I have ever witnessed in my life. The guy has really been kind of an albatross this year, but then he turns it all around and earns penance with that huge catch. I remember last year, Wise was just kind of hanging around, and then he hits that grand slam against Detroit last year. Perhaps the second half of this year might match his second half last year. If it goes down like that, Ozzie made the right move, which brings me to my next point.
Brian Anderson is now crying about how he wants a trade because he knows he isn't going to get an everyday position here. Bitch please. When was the last time you bated over .250? You had a shot in 2006, AND YOU BLEW IT! You talked a whole bunch shit and we get to listen to you wine about how you want to start and all that, but quite frankly, other than play some good d once in a while, what have you done? Caught that catch in game 163? OK. You were playing decent at the beginning, but what can you do? Wise, although his average sucks, can steal bases, and I would use him to replace one of the big dogs over Anderson if I were managing. Do you think you would have made that catch BA? Maybe, but I guess we'll never know. You want to be traded. Perhaps we can package you in a deal to AZ or north of the border, if any of those guys will even take you, punk!
And speaking of which, one pitcher will make all the difference this season. I prefer 312, but I don't know about you.
That's all I got for now. I'm done. Congrats Mark Buehrle. You made Chicago and the President proud today. By the way Obama, it’s WISE not Weise. Stoner!
Thanks for reading!
